Common Questions
Why choose in-home care here?
Remaining at home allows your pet to rest in an environment they know, filled with love and familiar scents. This method effectively reduces the anxiety often felt during clinical visits.
How does this benefit our family too?
Providing care in your home ensures a confidential and quiet space for goodbyes. Families can remain present during the whole process, sharing a peaceful time together. Visits last 30 to 60 minutes.
How can we tell if it is time now?
When tough days outnumber the good or your pet shows major shifts in appetite and movement, it may be time. Choosing this path offers relief from pain while honoring life. We provide quality of life scales on our resources page to help you assess comfort levels and guide your family through this emotional decision with deep clarity and confidence.
What occurs during the visit?
During the visit, a sedative is administered to help your pet relax and fall asleep comfortably. Once your pet is fully asleep, the final injection is given. You are welcome to stay with your pet throughout the entire process to provide comfort and support.
What about the aftercare?
We provide guidance on various aftercare paths, including private or communal cremation and memorial keepsakes, which can be chosen in advance or with our help during the visit. Our team handles every detail to ensure you feel fully supported.
What about bigger pets?
For any animals over 45 pounds, we ask that another adult be present onsite to help carry them.
Do you provide keepsakes from the visit?
Yes. At the time of your visit, we provide a complimentary fur clipping keepsake if you wish, as a gentle way to remember your pet.
What is the fee for the visit and service?
The cost of the visit and euthanasia, including medications, is $400. This also includes transport to Gateway Pet Memorial. An estimate can be provided for aftercare options such as private or general cremation and any memorial items you wish to be included.
